Central Kentucky Regional Airport (formerly Madison Airport) Fifth Open House
The fifth annual open house and barbecue was held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016.
The event was hosted by the airport board and Eastern Kentucky University, the airport’s fixed-base operator.
In addition to an airplane display, a barbecue lunch was served from noon to 2 p.m. Young people from age 8 to 17 had the opportunity to view the county from above thanks to the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Young Eagles program. EAA members took the youngsters aloft between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
After the flights, each young passenger received an EAA Young Eagle certificate, logbook and flight manual. Their names will be entered into the national Young Eagle Logbook at the EAA Air Venture Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and will be accessible on the internet at www.youngeagles.org. Young Eagles also can log into that site to enroll in a free course of online flight training.
